    Step1.Greetings and introductions

    Try to help my students to know how to greet each other as well as to encourage my students to be brave and active in my class so as to make a good lead-in and impression.

    Step2.Lead-in

    Since you know how to greet each other, it is quite good to have good manners. And it is also good and important to know something about table manners at a dinner party. Do you know about them,boys and girls? If not, today we are going to learn some table manners at a dinner party(title)

    Step3.Brainstorms

    ①Ask students to deal with the pre-reading as quickly as possible.

    ②Ask students to think of some situations for being impolite,such as “I went to the classroom for being late without telling the teacher”

    Step4.Reading coprehension

    ①Deal with some new words

    ②Brainstorm (10 questions)

    1.Ask students to deal with pre-reading part in pairs .Then ask them to show their own opinions(page 38)

    Let students talk about the names of the food and tools for eating in competitive ways. Then deal with the new words.

    a) People who go to a formal Western dinner party for the first time may be surprised by table manners.

    What does the sentence imply? (Is it easy for him/her to go to such a dinner party without knowing any Western table manners? Did he/she think/expect there were so much table etiquette?…)

    b)Have you ever been to any dinner party?Did you behave well?What impression did you make on the other guests?What impression did the others leave on you ? In what ways?

    c)Instead of a hot, damp cloth, mapkin is often seen at the Chinese dinner party nowadays. What do you think it implies? How would you use it ?

    d)Some people pray before they start eating ,and other people may keep silent for a moment . What is this custom related to?Or what do they believe in?

    Do you pray before each meal? why(not)?
